Big Idea

I believe that one of the biggest themes in MacBeth is how we are defined by our future. This is a major theme because if the witches never told MacBeth that he would be king then Lady MacBeth wouldn't have set up the murder. Also, Lady MacBeth would still be sane and not wandering around at night, telling people things she shouldn't be. Also, she would have been able to survive the entire play. MacBeth may just be Thane of Cawdor and never aspired to be king.
Also, if the witches never told Banquo that his children would be kings then MacBeth wouldn't have become paranoid. He has started to believe that the witches were always right. If he didn't hear this he would have been confident in his line surviving past him as king, but now, because he knows that Banquo's children will rule, he starts to kill innocent people and blame the murder on their children. Also, he would have never gone back to the Weird Sister and heard about MacDuff killing him after the woods move to a hill.

Quotations

"Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be What thou art promised" (31). This is a quote from the scene in which Lady MacBeth begins her scheming. This was right after she read the letter from MacBeth informing her about his meeting the witches. This is when Lady MacBeth starts to fear that her husband will be too innocent to murder King Duncan, which he will have to do in order to become King of Scotland.

"Thou mayst revenge--O slave!" (97). These are Banquo's dying words, he says them to his son just after he is murdered by the murderers hired by MacBeth. This is why Fleance was unable to defend himself against the allegations that he killed his father. This is also how the witches prophecy will come to be because Banquo still has living descendants. I believe that because we already know that MacDuff will kill MacBeth and become a king with no heirs, that he will name Fleance his heir to the throne, bringing the prophecy full circle.

Free Post

This week am am getting very excited for my sports seasons that are coming up. This week spring football begins and this year's freshmen won't have to carry everything around. Also, I want to be able to see how well we will do next year. We have a lot of good players coming back, and we are gaining several new players. It will be said to see the seniors gone, they were really good. James was hilarious.

Also, my summer lacrosse team will be having tryouts this Saturday and I am really excited to do that again. This is a tournament team with close to twenty games in four weekends. That is about the same as two regular seasons. It is a great chance to improve and I believe that our team will be competitive with the other teams who have been playing together for years. Almost everyone in this part of the state doesn't have that much experience, most of the teams have been together for maybe four years.

Macbeth Statements

My first statement is: Ambition is a positive, desirable trait in a person. I can neither agree nor disagree. Ambition is a very important trait to have, but it is very easy to get carried away with it. Their is a perfect balance somewhere on the spectrum, but it is some where in the middle, not on either end. Too little ambition and nothing will get down; too much ambition and everything could be seen as a threat. Lady Macbeth has too much and Macbeth has barely too much.

My second is: Sometimes you have to do things other people consider wrong to get ahead. I disagree with this. Most of the time, there is a great reason that that particular thing is considered bad. Sometimes, what ever made that thing bad may not be a problem anymore. Other times, there may be morals that keep most people from doing it. Lady Macbeth is completely aligned with this statement.

The Stool

The Stool that I
eat at. The Stool
That is always there.
The one that just
Floats by the island.
The Stool that I
Sit at every morning.

That Stool with the
bent legs, that never
bend. That one with
the cross bars, that
always annoy me, yet
I love just because.

Not the Stool on
the end, the one
sitting in the light.

In "The Stool," I use caesura to break up the different phrases. Also, I use enjambment to try to draw out each phrase. I also used anaphora to emphasize the certain stool that I love.

Song Analysis

In the song "Dark Turn of Mind," the artist, Gillian Welch, repeats the same phrase at the end of each stanza except the third one. The phrase emphasized the phrase 'dark turn of mind' and also used the phrase in a different way each time. The song also uses words that intone different versions of the word dark. This is done through the shadows and bones mentioned in the second stanza; the coming of night in the third stanza; and a dark mind being favorable over brightness in the last two stanzas.

All of this darkness, combined with the alternating euphony and cacophony, gives off interpretations of a clash between innocence and darkness. There is only a bit of a slant rhyme in the first stanza. The last stanza is a repetition of the final two lines in the previous stanza with some extra emphasis in the part about a dark turn of mind.

Research Paper

I felt confident about the style of the paper. It felt good to seem to know how to write a paper in this style. I felt good about my number of sources because I ended up using all but one of my ten required sources. I was concerned about how much I explained each source. I felt like there was so much background information that was needed just to make a small claim.

I feel like I need some help working on finding the proper conventions for each separate situation, I have trouble thinking of appropriate ones (not time related). I also fell like I could use some guidance on whether or not I am including too much background information. Another area of my concern would be about my conclusion, towards the end when I am trying to make my point, it almost feels like I make the writing a little more informal than in the rest of the paper.

Free Post

I have a small dog named Sammy. He is a maltipoo, a cross between a Poodle and a Maltese. We got him after a neighbor told us that she was going to see a friend who rescued dogs from the pound. When my mom, sister, and I went to this lady's house, she led us into a backroom that was completely covered in dog kennels. There was this one dog there that looked like a little bear cub, with frizzy hair and everything.

Sammy is a great companion. On the way home from the vet today, he was riding with all 3 inches of his head out of the window. He loves everyone and is very sweet. The most aggressive thing he does is mark his territory on people's shoes. However, he loves to bark. He will bark at anyone who walks by. He has woken up and begun to bark at a person walking a dog on the other side of the street. He loves to curl up in people's lap and fall asleep.

National History Day Explination

So my research topic is how the changes in the interpretations of the Second Amendment have affected people. I am going to open my paper with six Supreme Court cases and explain how they can give background to my topic. Just after that, I will use another source that shows what one person believes. Next, I will go into the final three source that I use, which reflect both sides of this topic. Then I will explain how some interpretations help people, and then I will explain how the interpretations may potentially harm people.

I am going to be answering my research question of how the interpretations of the Second Amendment have affected people, especially in recent years. To begin, I will have several findings from the Supreme Court that I will use in order to provide some background information. Directly following that, I will be including a paragraph about a single article that provides some more back ground. Finally, I will go into the topic itself, first showing a neutral article; then an article for potential positive impacts; and lastly an article for potential harmful results.

Audrey - How is ninth grade english different from eighth grade english?

In Ninth Grade English we are given more freedom and also more assistance. This year I finally understood how i needed to write papers, I used to just start writing. We are allowed to sit were we want and don't have to do exactly what the teacher wants. Also, I think the Wordly Wise quiz format is successful this year.

In Eighth Grade English we were in a very strict environment and made to work without much assistance. The desks were arranged specifically. We had to learn the material the same way the teacher wants it and to understand vague instructions. The way that we did wordly wise cards was simpler and also allowed us to learn.

My Topic

My research paper this year is about how the second amendment was created and how have its interpretations changed over the years. This is a topic that affects everyone and that most people could change. This is also very controversial.

This is something that is misinterpreted could cause a great rise in crime, or an inability for people to defend themselves. If politicians make gun laws too strict, then the criminals would still be able to get guns from illegal sources. If gun laws are made too lenient, then there would be gun fights over very small disputes.
